About us

Hov camping is situated by a beautiful white sandy beach with views over the sea to the North and the midnight sun. We have parking spaces both with and without electricity and a service house with kitchen, showers and toilets.

The campsite is located by the beach at Hov near the Hov Hestegård horse farm and about 600-700 metres away from the clubhouse at Lofoten Links golf course.

About Hov

Hov is one of the oldest places in Lofoten with memories of the land long ago. The area has landing places, pagan buildings and tombs from Viking times. The Viking Tore Hjort had his chieftain seat here 1000 years ago; he is mentioned in the Viking sagas and was killed by king Olav Truggvasson during the Christianization of Norway.

Facing the sea in the north, Hov experiences the Midnight sun and the Northern lights stronger than other places.

Activities

Lofoten Links

Lofoten Links is the world’s northernmost links course and is located 600-700 metres away from the campsite. Few places, if any, can challenge a golfer against the elements like Lofoten Links. The course has in a short period of time become world renowned for its unique location. Get ready for a golf round you will never forget!

Hov Hestegård

Hov Hestegård (Hov horse farm) is located near the campsite. Here you can ride through mountains, beaches and roads that some of the predecessors to our Icelandic horses used 1000 years ago.

Icelandic horses have their ancestors from Norway and Viking times. Hov Hestegard offers horse riding lessons, riding tours for beginners and experienced riders alike, stabling and more.

Experience Lofoten

The archipelago Lofoten is full of nature and light, and is located at 68 degrees north. Steep mountains, white sandy beaches and small fishing villages with picturesque red cabins are only a bit of what we can offer.

It is easy to get to Lofoten from elsewhere in the country by road, sea and air; for example the fight time from Oslo is only 2 hours. Widerøe flies both to Svolvær and Leknes up to 7 times a day. In addition to this, both ferries from the mainland and Hurtigruten ships call at Stamsund and Svolvær, both North and Southbound every day.

If you come by road you can use Lofast, the mainland connection.  The E-10 through Lofoten is part of the concept “National tourist roads”.

Hov camping is located at Hov on the island of Gimsøy, approximately mid-way between Svolvær and Leknes.
